reusing our content

Some of what we share here is free for anyone to use, adapt and build on. Here's what you can reuse and how to credit it.

CC BY 4.0

what you can reuse

Material we created with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund is shared under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), unless we say otherwise.

This includes our Stories & Memories oral history project: the interview videos, transcripts and photographs. Anything covered by the licence is marked with the CC BY badge.

what the licence lets you do

Share

Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

Adapt

Remix, transform and build on the material for any purpose, even commercially.

As long as you credit it

Give appropriate credit, link to the licence and say if you made changes. Don't suggest that we, or our funders, endorse you or how you've used it.

No need to ask

You don't need our permission to reuse licensed material, though we'd love to hear how you've used it.

how to credit us

Each Stories & Memories interview has a ready-made credit at the bottom of the page that you can copy. If you're crediting something else, please use this format:

ExampleStories & Memories: 020 Jemma Bagley, The Generator Loughborough CIC (2025), supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, CC BY 4.0. https://www.generatorlboro.org/stories-and-memories/jemma-bagley

If you've changed the material, for example by editing a clip or translating a transcript, add a short note saying so, such as "Edited from the original".

what isn't covered

  • The Generator logo, our funders' logos and other brand marks
  • Photographs, artwork or other material credited to someone else, which stay with their owners
  • Anything marked "All rights reserved" or with a © credit
  • The rest of our website, such as event listings, venue hire pages and promotional photography, unless it is marked with the CC BY badge

If you'd like to use something that isn't openly licensed, get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

questions or concerns

If you have a question about reusing our content, or you think something has been shared that shouldn't have been, email us at info@generatorlboro.org.

Creative Commons licences can't be withdrawn once applied, so anyone who has already reused material under the licence can keep doing so. We will always consider requests to take material down from our own website.

Some of the guidance on this page has been adapted from 'Working With Open Licences: A Guide For Projects', Andrea Wallace and Mathilde Pavis (2021), supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, CC BY 4.0.
