The Generator is a restored industrial building with exposed brick, steel and natural light throughout. Our spaces are made for creative and community use, from regular classes and rehearsals to performances, exhibitions and supper clubs.
Rooms can be hired by the hour, for a full day, or as a regular block booking. Several spaces can be used at once, or together for larger events.
We're a community interest company, so every hire goes straight back into our community arts programme.

Main Hall
Our largest space, with a bar and mezzanine. Performances, gigs, exhibitions, markets and events.
Studio One
A bright studio with a sink. Arts workshops, youth drama, yoga and rehearsals.
Studio Two
A calm, top lit studio. Classes, meetings, rehearsals and small workshops.
Schofield Gallery
A long gallery overlooking the hall. Exhibitions, private views and supper clubs.
Switch Gear Gallery
A flexible gallery space, available for exclusive hire until our permanent community gallery launches in 2027.
Tank Studio
A long, quiet, stripped back studio. Creative classes, rehearsals and community meetings.
what it costs
April 2026 to March 2027. All prices exclude VAT. Day rates are based on 8 hours, with an evening premium added for each hour after 6pm.
For businesses and private hire, our spaces start from £20 an hour or £120 a day.
Registered charities and not-for-profits pay less, from £16 an hour or £96 a day.
Each space has its own rates, with evening and weekend prices on its page. Ask us about block bookings for regular classes and term-time activities.
extras and add-ons
Add lighting, sound, projection or a technician to any booking. Prices exclude VAT. Registered charities can ask about further reduced tech rates.
Catering and bar. In-room catering is available on request from our partners, and our bar can open for private events.
Corkage. Corkage for larger events can be arranged on request, so please ask when you enquire.
