Partner with The Generator to create lasting community impact
The Generator invites forward-thinking organisations to become founding partners in a transformational project for Loughborough. By partnering with us, you'll help create a vibrant cultural hub that breaks down barriers, celebrates diversity, and empowers communities through creativity.
Why partner with The Generator?
Values-aligned impact
This is more than sponsorship—it's a partnership rooted in shared values. If your organisation cares about community access, inclusivity, social impact, or cultural enrichment, The Generator offers an authentic way to demonstrate those values in action.
We're not-for-profit, community-led, and driven by a mission to make the arts accessible to everyone, regardless of background, location, or circumstance. When you partner with us, you're investing in:
Breaking down barriers to cultural participation for marginalised and disadvantaged communities across Loughborough and Charnwood.
Nurturing future talent by providing children, young people, and students with professional-quality spaces to develop creative skills and build confidence.
Building digital inclusion through creative technology workshops that teach transferable skills for the modern workplace, from basic digital literacy to advanced creative software.
Celebrating diversity through programmes that honour the cultural traditions of Loughborough's diverse communities, including south-east Asian, Bangladeshi, Polish, Italian, and refugee populations.
Extending rural access by bringing high-quality cultural experiences to villages and rural areas that currently face significant barriers to arts engagement.
Supporting local creatives by offering artists, makers, and performers professional facilities to work, collaborate, exhibit, and build sustainable creative careers.
Local legacy in a landmark building
The Generator building carries remarkable history. Built in 1921 as Britain's first educational power station, it literally powered Loughborough's educational growth for decades. After power generation ceased in 1960, it became home to the Art College until 2011.
Now we're transforming this 1930s Art Deco heritage building into a new kind of powerhouse—one that generates creativity, connection, and cultural opportunity. Your partnership helps preserve this important piece of Loughborough's industrial and educational heritage while creating a vibrant space for the future.
The building is centrally located, easily accessible, and already well-known to local people. It will host events for up to 250 people while also providing intimate spaces for smaller groups and individual work.
Proven delivery and community support
We're not asking you to take a leap of faith. Over ten years of dedicated volunteer work, we've demonstrated our capability by:
Securing over £3.1 million from major funders including Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund, Town Deal, Architectural Heritage Fund, Community Ownership Fund, and Charnwood Borough Council
Completing extensive community consultation with hundreds of engaged supporters
Building partnerships with Loughborough University, Loughborough College, Charnwood Arts (our local NPO), and numerous arts and heritage organisations
Running successful Heritage Open Days attended by hundreds of community members
Achieving nearly 400 contributors to our crowdfunding campaign
Establishing an Advisory Board representing diverse voices from across the community
Employee engagement opportunity
Give your team something meaningful to connect with. A partnership with The Generator offers:
Pride in local impact - Your employees can see the tangible difference their company makes in their own community.
A vibrant cultural venue - Staff benefit from access to exhibitions, performances, workshops, and events right on their doorstep.
Volunteering opportunities - From skills-sharing to hands-on involvement, we can create meaningful ways for your team to engage directly with the project.
Team building and hospitality - Use The Generator for corporate events, away days, or client entertainment in a unique, purpose-driven venue.
Authentic CSR storytelling - Demonstrate your corporate values through a partnership that genuinely reflects what you stand for.
Where we are now
We're so close to opening. The building renovation is complete, and we've raised over £3.1 million. Construction challenges have created a final funding gap to complete the fit-out and equip the space to professional standards.
We need to:
Equip the performance space with professional lighting and sound systems
Complete essential operational areas including the bar and office spaces
Furnish workshop rooms for community programmes
Finalise safety, signage, and accessibility features
Install digital infrastructure for both building operations and creative technology programmes
Our approach to completing the project
We're securing this final funding through partnerships with organisations whose values align with ours. This isn't about financial distress—it's about finishing strong with the right partners.
We want partners whose names we're proud to have connected with this project because they represent what we stand for: community impact, breaking down barriers, inclusivity, and creating opportunities for everyone.
Partnership opportunities
We're flexible and creative in structuring partnerships that work for your organisation's priorities, budget, and goals. Opportunities include:
Founding Partner
Become one of a small number of founding corporate partners who helped make The Generator possible. Founding partners receive prominent recognition and the satisfaction of knowing they were instrumental in creating this vital community resource.
Space or Programme Partnership
Support a specific space or programme area that aligns with your organisation's values:
Digital Creative Suite - Equip our digital arts spaces with computers, software, and equipment for creative technology workshops
Performance Hall - Fund professional lighting, sound, and AV equipment for the main performance space
Young Creatives Programme - Support workshops and activities for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds
Community Workshop Spaces - Furnish flexible workshop rooms for participatory arts activities
Accessibility Features - Ensure the building is fully accessible to people with disabilities
Heritage Interpretation - Help us tell the story of the building's remarkable industrial and educational past
Equipment or Infrastructure
Provide specific equipment or infrastructure that will be acknowledged with appropriate recognition:
Audio-visual equipment for live streaming and digital participation
Professional lighting and sound systems
Furniture and fixtures for community spaces
Digital technology for creative workshops
Sustainable energy infrastructure
Multi-year Programme Support
Invest in ongoing programmes with measurable outcomes, allowing us to track and report on the impact of your support over time. This could include:
Digital inclusion programmes tracking participants' skill development
Creative skills workshops for disadvantaged young people
Community cultural festivals celebrating Loughborough's diversity
Artist residencies supporting local creative practitioners
Rural outreach bringing culture to underserved areas

Long-term legacy
Create sustainable cultural infrastructure that will serve Loughborough and Charnwood for generations, with your organisation's name attached to something genuinely transformational.

We're thoughtful about recognition, ensuring it feels authentic and appropriate rather than commercial. This is about celebrating shared values, not advertising.
Our commitment to partners
When you partner with The Generator, you can expect:
Transparency - Clear communication about how your support is used and what impact it creates.
Impact reporting - Regular updates showing tangible outcomes from your investment.
Authentic partnership - We want partners who genuinely share our values, and we'll work to ensure the partnership benefits both organisations meaningfully.
Professionalism - Despite being volunteer-led, we operate to high standards and have proven our delivery capability.
